Herbal Teas in the Summer Months

The benefits of drinking herbal teas daily are numerous. Yet, in these summer months, it can be difficult to want to enjoy a hot beverage. Luckily, the benefits of herbal teas are not only present when served hot! Any of our many health-supporting teas are still good for you when served iced.

How to Make Iced Herbal Teas

There are two main ways to make your delicious herbal tea iced. If you are only making one serving of iced herbal tea, you will want to prepare it differently than if you are making an entire pitcher. Listed below are both options, so you can enjoy your iced herbal tea be it alone or with a group.

Preparing Iced Herbal Tea for One Serving

Making one serving of herbal iced tea is just as simple as making it hot.

If you are only making one serving, boil water as usual when making hot tea. Then, once the teabag is added to the boiling water in a mug or teacup, let steep. For this method, you should allow the tea to steep for a bit longer than you usually would so the flavor is stronger.

Additionally, add an extra tea bag for more potent effects. About 8-10 minutes of steeping is recommended. Once finished, add any sweetener to taste. Then pour the strong tea over a large glass filled with ice. In about 1-2 minutes, the ice will have melted and you can enjoy your iced herbal tea!

Preparing a Pitcher of Iced Herbal Tea

To make a large batch of iced herbal tea, start with about 8-10 tea bags and a large pitcher. Fill the pitcher with hot water, and allow the bags to sit and steep for around 20-25 minutes. This longer steeping time allows for more flavor.

It will also generate the most potent tea possible, which gives you the best health benefits. Once the tea has steeped, you may add sugar or place the tea into your fridge to cool. Allow the tea to cool for at least 2 hours before serving over ice.

Iced Herbal Tea Recipes

Now that we have gone over how to prepare iced herbal teas, it is time to recommend some of our favorite teas to enjoy cold! All of our teas can, of course, be served as iced tea. However, here are a few of our favorites to enjoy iced this summer season.

Iced Ginger and Lemon Tea

To make this tea, prepare a few bags of our Absolute Ginger Tea is one of the two ways listed above. Then, once your iced ginger tea is complete, add lemon juice. One to two slices of lemon per glass of tea is the recommended amount of lemon juice. Once the juice is added, stir your iced tea and enjoy!

Ginger tea has many health benefits.

Ginger is used to soothe indigestion and promote digestive health. It also helps support a healthy inflammation response. Drinking this tea in the summer months is one great way to keep your stomach healthy and your taste buds happy!

Iced Berry Blend Tea

For this recipe, you will need our Absolute Schisandra Berry Tea as well as our Absolute Hawthorn Tea. Again, depending on whether you are making this for yourself or a group, first decide which method you are using to prepare your tea. Then, use a 1:1 ratio of the Absolute Schisandra Berry tea bags and the Absolute Hawthorn tea bags. For one serving, try one to two bags of each tea. When making a pitcher, use five bags of each type of tea. Sweeten to taste, serve over ice, and enjoy! For added sweetness, Monk fruit or Stevia can be used to keep your tea healthy but also flavorful!

Both the schisandra and the hawthorn berry are rich in antioxidants. Hawthorn helps to support healthy cholesterol levels and blood circulation. Schisandra is an adaptogen, which means it helps regulate the body’s response to stress. These two teas are both very beneficial to health. Together, they make a delicious and healthy blend.

Iced Honeysuckle Tea

Honeysuckle is a delicious and fragrant flower, perfect for a refreshing iced tea. To make this tea, follow the instructions above for either a single or pitcher serving, using Absolute Honeysuckle tea. As far as sweeteners go, we recommend using honey for this tea. The combination of the honey and honeysuckle flavors is an especially delicious treat.

Not only is it a beautiful flower, but honeysuckle is also a powerful herbal tea.

Honeysuckle is an important herb as it can help support a healthy immune system. It is always important to focus on your immune health, even in the summer months. Honeysuckle is an easy and tasty way to care for your immune system. Honeysuckle has also been known to help detox the respiratory system.
